Cocoon's alarm/siren will only sound if you chose to activate it
When there is an alert from Cocoon to your smartphone, you will have the option to watch the live stream or the recorded video from the start of the alert.
From here, you can choose to touch OK or sound the siren.
If you touch OK, you'll be returned to the home screen, and the recorded video of the event will be available to review in your timeline.
If you sound the siren, you can decide how long to sound it. From one second to two minutes, just tap to start, and tap again to stop or you can let it run through to the end of 2 minutes and it will turn itself off (if you need to run the siren again after the 2 minutes, just tap the alert and tap the siren button again).
This feature is integral to the function of Cocoon so we do not have any plans to offer an option to disable the alarm function.
Automatic alarm/siren
When we designed Cocoon, we set out to deliberately avoid an automatic alarm option, to prevent what we see as a major flaw of traditional alarm systems. By using a smarter approach, you will only hear an alarm when you, or a member of your Cocoon 'Household', chooses to sound it.
The 90db Siren
Cocoon's siren is set at 90db, which is pretty loud. When directly facing Cocoon, this volume is a strong deterrent, and enough to cause discomfort to any intruder. This is also loud enough to be heard on the outside of a property in the event of an intruder whose Subsound is picked up whilst attempting to enter, and also as a signal to a neighbour or passer-by of an issue.
Unfortunately, this volume is fixed during manufacture and cannot be adjusted.
