When choosing a location for your Cocoon you should take a little time to avoid places near heat sources.
The 1st Generation Cocoon (CS01A) cools using conduction. This means that the heat produced by internal components leaves the device via its outer casing. The warmer the air around your Cocoon, the slower the device will cool down.
It is completely normal for your Cocoon to feel warm when touched, due to the cooling via conduction process.
So, where should you locate your Cocoon? Well, the closer it is to things like radiators, laptop chargers, games console power packs and T.V’s then the warmer your Cocoon will run – many of us are guilty of having a tangled birds nest of such cables behind our T.V’s, so if you’re worried about overheating, areas like this should be avoided. Also, if it's on a window sill or somewhere near direct sunlight, you will notice a temperature increase.
If after following the above you are still concerned about overheating just get in touch with us! We will be more than happy to check the temperature logs of your device remotely and put your mind at rest. After all, making your home feel safer is what we’re all about!
For our 2nd Generation Cocoon (CS03A) we moved a lot of the processing power to the cloud, so has less onboard components, reducing the heat generated, so runs much cooler.
